THE EXPERIENCE
SELECT THE VISIONARY
Select the Visionary to create and produce the film. The Visionary will be a 10- to 16-year-old experiencing a chronic illness or physical disability.
BRAINSTORM STORY CONCEPTS
Big Hope Films (BHF) will work with the Visionary to brainstorm story concepts for their film.
SELECT MENTORSHIP TEAM
BHF will interview and select a mentoring team composed of a writer, director, producer, and editor. The mentors will likely be upcoming filmmakers who are motivated to give back and energized by the mission of BHF.
STORY CREATION AND SCRIPTWRITING
The mentoring writer will work with the Visionary to create a story outline and script while teaching the art of screenwriting.
PRE-PRODUCTION
The mentoring director will work with the Visionary to create the storyboard, conduct a casting call, and scout potential locations for the film shoot. The mentoring producer will also be involved during this stage to assist and facilitate the process.
ThE SHOOT
Filming will consist of a 2- to 5-day shoot at various locations where the mentoring director assists the Visionary in directing the film.
POST-PRODUCTION AND EDITING
The Visionary, alongside the mentoring editor and mentoring director will edit the film and prepare it for viewing and distribution.
SHOWCASE THE FILM
BHF will organize an event to showcase the film, such as at a film festival, or create an event in conjunction with a nonprofit organization focused on increasing awareness and/or fundraising for the Visionary’s illness or condition
